The downtown area of Puerto Vallarta is divided into three regions: north of the Cuale River (which runs through the middle of the city), south of the Cuale River, and to the east, which follows the river up to the mountains. On the north side, you’ll find the famous Vallarta Malecón. This is a boardwalk that was renovated in 2011 and is one of the most famous landmarks in the city. There is also a pedestrian bridge along the beach providing easy access to Isla Cuale (an island in the middle of the river) and the south side of town.
There’s no doubt that living in the heart of downtown is attractive for many who move to Puerto Vallarta. This area is brimming with amazing thing to do. It is easy to enjoy an exciting new lifestyle by taking a walk along the Malecón on a sunny day and being surrounded by the friendly faces and sights of Mexico.
Traditional homes dot the hillside, offering wonderful views of the town and bay. Along the Malecón, which now stretches from one end of town to the other, there are mostly shops, restaurants, and nightclubs, with few homes or condominiums. If you like to be close to the best restaurants and nightlife, this is the place to be. Real estate options here are limited to older homes and small boutique condominium buildings. You can’t beat the location because almost everything is walkable and at your fingertips.
