Mascota is a picturesque, traditional town hidden away in the Sierra Madre Mountains about a two-hour drive inland from Puerto Vallarta.
Situated at about 1200 meters above sea level, the climate in Mascota is comfortably cool during the summer months – making it an ideal choice for ocean-side dwellers that are seeking to escape the summer heat.
The dry mountain air and an abundance of activities such as hiking, mountain biking and fishing, make Mascota an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. This charming, colonial town was officially designated a Pueblo Mágico by Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism because of its cultural richness.
The town itself is filled with many museums, historical attractions, traditional shops, restaurants and hotels.
Mascota Real Estate
Real estate here is not what you’d call “tourism” real estate. Mascota is an old Mexican town where the real estate you’ll find is in most cases very old, at least in the center of town. Outside there are ranch-style real estate opportunities, with large parcels of land available.
Real estate in Mascota is outside the Restricted Zone, which means foreigners do not need a bank trust in order to to purchase it.
