The most accessible beach in the Punta de Mita area and the one that is considered to be surf central is El Anclote. This popular beach is lined with increasingly sophisticated restaurants at all price points which all make great spots from which to watch the sunset.
The surf at El Anclote is calmed by several rock jetties. The water is shallow for quite a way out making it ideal for children and average to not-strong swimmers. There’s a long, slow wave for novice surfers who can rent boards and take lessons from outfitters in town. More than half a dozen great surf spots can be accessed nearby; most are accessible only by boat.
