The hidden world of Playa Tortugas (Turtle Beach) is undeniably one of the most beautiful beaches around. This spectacular unspoiled 10-mile beach is set along a former coconut plantation. The quiet pristine beach is shared with a sea turtle conservation camp where guests can participate in the preservation of endangered sea turtles, as well as a protected mangrove estuary for resident and wintering water birds, turtles and crocodiles.
This ecological preserve offers a wonderful opportunity for nature enthusiasts to experience unspoiled wildlife, sea birds and marine life. The beach is perfect for walking, running or riding horseback, as well as surfing, boogie boarding, body surfing and kayaking.
During the scenic 70-minute drive north from Rincón de Guayabitos and La Peñita, you’ll wind through the narrow roads of Las Varas, Zacualpan, San Isidro and Ixtapa – and pass field after field of tobacco, papaya, mango, pineapple and other native agricultural crops.
